The Battlefords AA Midget Beavers lost in a close semifinal game against Macklin on the weekend, to finish out of contention for the provincial title.

The Beavers, who hosted the eight-team tier 3 tournament, swept their round robin games, turning in an exciting come from behind win against the Saskatoon Braves.

The Beavers were trailing all game behind the Saskatoon Braves and things didn’t look good until the bottom of the seventh inning, when they were behind three points. The Beavers were at bat and the bases were loaded when Simon Gentes connected for a grand slam, scoring four runs.

The Carrot River Loggers took home the title with an 8-6 win over the Macklin Lakers.
