Recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day continued Thursday afternoon at Fort Battleford. A number of chiefs and representatives from the surrounding area, including Chief Bobby Cameron of the FSIN and mayors Ames Leslie of Battleford and Mayor Ryan Bater of North Battleford, were on hand for the event. The event highlighted the future potential of Fort Battleford as a historical and educational site for treaty education in future years. The grand entry, a round dance, a brief storytelling segment and other entertainment marked the day, the most spectacular of which was the firing of the cannon. Photos by John Cairns
